MotoGP - Rossi's Reason for Choosing 'Embarrassing Himself' in MotoGP

Rossi's Reason for Choosing 'Embarrassing Himself' in MotoGP

Ahead of the 2021 Aragon MotoGP, Sunday (12/9), Valentino Rossi revealed the reason he was reluctant to retire from MotoGP at the peak of his career and preferred to 'embarrass himself'.

Rossi has decided to retire after MotoGP 2021. The Doctor retires from being able to compete competitively this season.

Retirement emerged after many parties considered Rossi's choice to continue to appear in MotoGP even though it was considered exhausted. Rossi is claimed to be late for retirement from MotoGP.

Rossi  admits he prefers to postpone retirement and slump in MotoGP, rather than retire at the peak of his career. The 42-year-old racer didn't want what would happen if he decided to retire at the peak of his career.

"I tried to refuse [retirement] until the end. I don't want to retire at the peak of my career because I don't want to have regrets. That's why I am very happy and calm, because I have given my best," said Rossi quoted from Tuttomotoriweb.

I learned from my father that we shouldn't take sport and results too seriously. Since it doesn't make a difference, it's not important to make the results better or faster. The important thing is to work hard and enjoy the journey. me," said Rossi.

Rossi had several times been rumored to be retiring. The rumors first appeared in 2006, after winning five MotoGP world titles. At that time Rossi was reportedly interested in joining Ferrari in F1.

Rossi also ensures that MotoGP will not lose prestige after The Doctor retires. The Italian racer believes that MotoGP will be crowded because it has many talented young drivers.

"MotoGP existed before Valentino Rossi, and MotoGP will continue without me. The level of riders continues to increase, so you have to practice a lot, and when you are old, you will enjoy less if you practice more," said Rossi.

Rossi did not completely leave MotoGP. Through the Aramco VR46 team, Rossi will manage the MotoGP team starting the 2022 season. Rossi has teams in the Moto3 and Moto2 classes.
