Apple Wallet is getting verifiable COVID-19 vaccination cards

There is a real opportunity you will need evidence of Covid-19 vaccination to enter certain places, and Apple hopes to save the hassle of digging an email or carrying a physical card in your pocket. The company carries a Covid-19 vaccination card that can be verified into the wallet as part of the iPhone software update in the future.

This feature will take advantage of international smart health card standards (already used in several countries) to produce evidence of vaccination, sign it with a private key and create a public key to verify your info.

The newly released iOS 15 has allowed you to store vaccination and test results that can be verified in the health application using the same standard. You will receive your notes through a QR code, files that can be downloaded or health care providers that use health records on the iPhone.

Apple promises strict privacy for all your data. The company will not have access to imported records or with you, and all info must be encrypted and stored safely when transferred elsewhere. Technology giants cannot see your vaccination card or how you use it. You can share information with a third-party application that is "approved", but only based on one time.

Apple does not say when it will release the card update. It won't thrill you if you are worried about the concept of sharing your vaccination status with a concert or restaurant. However, at least have to streamline the process - important when you've been late for the show.
